About 1:00 today, I was over it. I had had it. (Is that really a sentence?) Me and my bra were at odds. I was real tired of it pinching me. I was tired of one strap always falling down off my shoulder. I was tired of feeling warm and sticky underneath my girls.
So, right then and there, I decided that this would be a bra-free weekend. I posted it on Facebook that this was my plan. People warned me of the saggy baggies. People agreed. People quoted songs to me. All in all, my declaration illicted quite the response. This is obviously an issue on which people feel strongly. I know I'm in this alone, but I do feel support (sorry for the pun) on my trek.
For over thirty years, I've been wearing the darn things. I've worn all sizes and shapes. I've paid good money for em and I've bought the bargain variety. I've worn snap in front, snap in back, strapless (EGADS), racerback and convertible. I've worn push up, padded, tshirt, lacy, underwire, no wire, sports and nursing. If you add it all up, I've probably worn close to 500 bras in my life. And, how many of those were comfortable? Maybe 10. Maybe. Percentage wise, that's about 2%.
I'm just tired of being uncomfortable. And, I'm taking a stand. Please don't tell me to go get fitted by a specialist. I've seen them do this. It aint happening. If I'm getting felt up, it's not gonna be by the lady in the lingerie department at Dillards.
So, I'm about four hours into my bra-free weekend, and so far, so good. I'm hanging free, and loving it. I feel relaxed, happy and joyful. Now, don't panic on me, I'll be back to my old ways of bra-wearing on Monday, but for the next 72 hours, the girls are FREE. Join me, will you??

How ironic! This is the very weekend that I decided boxers just weren't cutting it. This also happens to be the weekend that I will have the house to myself. I'm sure you can put two and two together and understand why this will be a very introspective weekend.
I think that's one of the things that told me right away we'd be fast friends...as soon as we arrived home to our place or yours bras were off. That is the best. It's often the first thing I do when I get in the car heading home from work. How liberating a feeling it is!!!
Thanks for telling the world that bra-free women are no less classy, sassy or refined. :-)
xoxo
I'm with you for the rest of today! Flying tomorrow and I don't think anyone would think it was to pretty.
Enjoy your day!

Yay for No Bra Weekend! I loathe bras AND I've been "fitted" by a girl at Nordstrom who recommended I buy the Spanx brand that helped with back fat. Nice! (The thing is, that bra made it worse!). All I can think of is the little song we used to sing at Camp Otonka: "Do your {ears} hang low, do they wobble to and fro, Can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow? Can you toss them over your shoulder like a Continental soldier, Do your {ears} hang low." Come on, everybody join in!

I love silent films by Sessl B. DuMil, don't you?
Oh Judi, you don't want me to join you on this quest!! My girls have been way too big for more years than I care to count!! :) And yes, I did go to Intimacy store this past Christmas and gave myself a present. I finally have two, count them two, bras that I do not mind wearing because I no longer hand to my waist with the darn bra ON!
Sadly, I would not have been a bra burner...out of sheer necessity. :)
But you go girl, and make us proud.
