A Few of My Favorite Things

There are so many things about my house that drive me crazy.  You know, dirt, dust, tumbleweeds, marks on the wall, cuts in the carpet, dirty windows, and on and on and on....

Luckily, there are enough of my favorites spread out through the house to keep my from committing Hara-Kiri!  (yes, I had to look up how to spell that)  Pretend I'm Julie Andrews and I'm singing a nice little ditty....

I love my mass candles.  I like to buy a new one when we go to the mountains over New Years.  I figure every little bit helps, so I light these suckers, um, religiously.

The title of this picture is, "Portrait of a man slowly going insane."  I call it, "Self Portrait."  I look at this when I am, er, um, sitting on the toilet?

My all time favorite birthday present from Sir.

The Kleenex Tower.
SS found the Sponge Bob box in Taylor's room.  It's probably close to ten years old.

My $20 Bling Lamp from Target.

I love how a cross looks on the wall.  I think we found this one at TJ Maxx.
The beads?  From our New Orleans trip a few years ago.

A friend painted this picture for us years ago.
And even though it's messy as heck, I love my coat rack.
No coats ever hang on this.

The crucifix we brought back from Portugal.
In one piece!

Rockett Dog.

Domino Fa-Lomino

And my newest fave, that just arrived in the mail today---
Hand knitted dish cloths from my blogging buddy, Kyle.
Thanks Kyle!!

so happy you enjoy the dishclothes.

washing dishes is dull so having something to look at other than soap dwindling sink water helps the task pass the time...

love all your favorite stuff - yes...so happy for Louis..
my bosses father-in-law went to school with him..small world

I will never think I'm having a bad day again in my life...

I also think I should give some thought to forgiveness to others

Love, love, love your quirky decor. I think the best compliment I ever got was from a neighbor the first time he came over. He said, "Y'all seem so normal and traditional, but everywhere I look in your house, there's something that makes me smile."

Oh, so fun to see your stuff! Did Sir Steven make that fab present? And Rockett!!!!!!

BTW, you're not dumb re: the parrots. They are wild in Mexico, but urban legend has it these are descendents of birds that escaped from a zoo or pet store. Here's a little article about them:

I really adore them--they make such a racket. They were in LA, too, and the first noise we heard after the big 1994 earthquake--which hit about 4 a.m.--was a flock of parrots flying over. Somehow that made it seem as if things were going to be OK, in some weird way.

Your stuff makes me smile! It's as if there are pieces of you hanging on the walls of your home!
